Really.
No, we're not. We're just working away trying to get this album finished. Working hard. Or maybe we really are in the desert with Eddie van Halen. Except we're not. But are we..? Yes. And by yes, I mean, of course, no. On Friday the 29th of April, we will be once again treading the boards at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow, this time with Lucy & The Lyrics, Tallahassee Falls and Marthasville.
It's a Friday night, tickets are £6.50 - what's not to like?! Getting there, getting there..
Tonight is the last of the piano & organ sessions for the new album - the piano had to be moved into another room and tuned (and it baaaadly needed tuned), after some mighty hassle, it was all done and dusted by this morning, ready for Joe to run his fingers lovingly over. Now, we have to leave you, as there's songs to be played, and whiskey to be drunk! This year's New Year's Revolution at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow will be featuring The Big Nowhere on Thursday the 14th of January, with Cow Cow Boogie, Strange Blue Dreams, and Rulers of The Root. There's far too many bands to mention everyone, so go see some of them. Well, go see us.
A kind-of a short-notice show last night, with the currently on tour Kosoti from Newcastle and the amazing Woodwife at the o2ABC2 in Glasgow.
As you can see, the stage was a little emptier than usual for one of our shows as a few band members were not able to make it, being in different parts of the world. This was the first time we's performed as a four-piece, so the guitars were cranked up and the extra stage-space was taken advantage of. It was a hot show! The set was mostly taken from the new album (it's so close to being finished!), so if you were there, you now know what to expect! Cheers! Simon Photo taken from Kosoti's Instagram
Well.. here we are again with another video. This time it's 'Pressure Drop' from King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in February 2010. This was a very important show for us, as it was the first time we'd played as a full band. We had previously only done a couple of acoustic gigs as The Big Nowhere, so this was a real test. A lot of the tracks that would go on to appear on our second album 'Don't Burn The Fortune' would be given their first outing here, with 'Who Will Save The Bodies' and 'An Open Invitation For Trouble' being included in the set, as well as 'Pressure Drop'.
This show was not only our first full-band show, it was also both the first The Big Nowhere show at King Tut's, and our first support slot with a more established artist. This show was part of King Tut's' 20th anniversary celebrations, and we were playing support to a then little-known acoustic folk sister-act called First Aid Kit. It's still one of my favourite shows we've ever done. Enjoy!
Yes, another new video - our version of Elliott Smith's classic 'Needle In The Hay', from our set at the Elliott Smith tribute show at Mono, Glasgow in October 2011. The show was to raise funds for Aberlour Children's Charity. Also appearing were members of Monogannon, Endor, and organiser Natasha Radhmer (among others) performing acoustic versions of some of Smith's best-loved tracks. We thought we'd do something a little different, and if you're an Elliott Smith fan, you'll see just how different when you click play..
Enjoy!
For the second of our new videos, we have a track that has been a live staple for us for a long time - Welcome To Nowhere. Will it eventually turn up on an album..? WHO KNOWS?!!
It will. This video is from a show at the o2ABC2 in September of 2011, with Canadian singer-songwriter Doug Paisley. The show was part of the 2011 No Mean City festival.
The first of the unearthed videos is 'I Couldn't Keep Away' from our set at King Tut's in Glasgow, just a few weeks ago. This track will be on the new record, which we're currently working on.
Enjoy! |
